From the bowels of the 7th most fertile valley in the world – The Marriaqua valley comes an extremely talented and creative Icon - Garrett John. This young and energetic singer/songwriter like most became exposed to music at an early age in church and was singing in the choir by age six.

His interest in all things musical continued to build at a steady pace and his transition through High School saw him actively involved in many musical performances and ultimately winning the schools talent search competition in the dub/rap category in 2001. His initial genre was Dancehall reggae however he smoothly transitioned into Soca after completing High School.

Since leaving High school, Icon placed 3rd in the Road March competition 2004, winning the HAIROUN BEER Big tune of the year title, best new artist and Rag master awards in that same year. In 2005, he placed 4th in The International Soca Monarch competition, 3rd in 2006, 5th in 2007,4th in 2008 and that same year went on to win the Road March title with the smash hit “Ah pain (2Knee).

Icon was a foundation member with the band Alliance, however he moved on to join the phenomenal band HottSand in 2007. In 2009 Garrett aka Icon signed with the newest Indie Record Label Magma Music Group under the management of Adrian Bailey and is now a part of the MMG stable of Artistes.
